A bullish Kell Brook insists he is in the shape of his life and destined to become a two-time world champion when he meets pound-for-pound star Terence Crawford at the ‘Bubble’ in the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, on Saturday night.
Brook (39-2, 27 KOs) is certainly talking a good fight ahead of his bout with the unbeaten WBO welterweight champion and maintains his best days lie ahead rather than behind him.
The Sheffield star has dropped back down to 147lbs after a fruitless foray at 154lbs and feels he is ready to replicate the form that saw him topple then IBF champion Shawn Porter (W12) in California in August 2014.
“I’ve been after this fight for a long time. I’m more than ready! I’m in the best condition of my life, and I’m ready to become a two-time world champion. I’m like fine wine. I’m getting better as I get older. I’m ready,” said Brook.
”I think Terence knows I’m not an easy fight. I want him to bring the best out of me. I’m pushing myself to perform the best I can. I pulled myself away from my family and from all the distractions. I’m making the sacrifice of being away from my family because I want to be great.
“It will be great for the UK for me to come through and become world champ against the number one fighter in the world. I know who Terence is, and that’s why I have prepared the way I have. I’m a big welterweight, and I can punch with both hands. This is what I do. The talking is done. All the work has been done. It’s time to perform.”
Crawford-Brook will air live on ESPN & ESPN Deportes at 10pm ET in the US on Saturday. UK fans can watch all the action on Premier Sports 1, starting at 12am Sunday morning.
