Dillian Whyte has slammed Tyson Fury in a recent interview, saying the WBC world heavyweight champion needs to keep quiet regarding the recent negotiations for a fight with Anthony Joshua.
Whyte, speaking to Sky Sports Boxing, also explained the deadline Fury issued to AJ for Monday was unrealistic due to the lengthy process that goes into finalising a fight of that magnitude
“Big fights take time because there’s a lot that goes into it. The teams put a lot into it and there’s a lot of commercial things and protecting your best interests and protecting your rights.”
“These guys are on two different TV stations as well so it’s not just as simple as ‘sign the contract, you big dosser!’”
Whyte, who suffered a knockout defeat to Fury in April at Wembley Stadium, went on to say that those in the public who blindly believe what ‘The Gypsy King’ says would be wise to think again.
“A lot of people just listen to what Tyson Fury says, but that’s not how these things work. Big fights take time.”
“You have to get everything right, otherwise things can all fall over at the waist just like that.”
Although initial talks for a huge all British clash between Fury and Joshua seemed to be positive, it would appear the fight has been derailed in the past week, with Fury announcing that, if AJ didn’t sign on Monday, the lineal champion would fight fringe heavyweight Manuel Charr on December 3rd instead.
AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn was also critical of Fury in interviews over the weekend, accusing him of never wanting the fight with Joshua and ‘bluffing everyone.’
