It is the most anticipated fight of the World Boxing Super Series tournament. George Groves versus Chris Eubank Jr has already sold out the Manchester and it only took seven minutes.
The massive demand for tickets is rising and promoter Kalle Sauerland promises to put out more before the fight.
“This is clearly the fight everyone wanted and I am sure this super-fight will capture not only a nation but a generation of fight fans. The build-up is going to be huge and we can’t wait to go to Manchester for a sold out event between two spectacular rivals and world-class fighters. We will work hard over the coming weeks to release extra tickets to meet the huge demand for this fight,” commented Sauerland according to a press release.

The heated press conference on Tuesday proved that the bad blood between Groves and Eubank Jr is real.
When asked about Eubank Jr, WBA World super middleweight champion Groves felt that his opponent lacks the talent to beat him.
“Chris Eubank Jr. puts on a façade that he’s able to do everything himself, that he’s a one-man band. But it’s very difficult doing stuff on your own so we’ll see if he starts to make changes and adapt. He’ll have to. Obviously, this is his first really big fight, definitely at super middleweight, and I believe that he is going to fall short in a lot of categories,” said Groves.
The IBO champion then took the stage and gave his word that he would stop Groves.
“George seems to be hung up on what I’ll do. He needs to worry about himself. Thinking about me isn’t going to get him anywhere. I’m a man of my word and George, you will not see the end of the twelfth round.
“He doesn’t have the speed, his defence is poor and his stamina is average at best. The fact that he’s lacking in those things means he won’t be able to compete with me. I’m not a stepping stone. I’m Mount Everest and you’re not going to climb me,” responded Eubank Jr.
In an interview with ESPN UK, the Brighton fighter continued his ruthless assessment of Groves and also sent a message to all of his ‘haters and keyboard warriors’.
“He’s trying to put on a brave face. He’s trying to act confident. I saw through it. I saw through the act. Nothing about him is worrisome. Nothing about his abilities is making me think twice, making me think I have to watch out for that. He’s an allrounder. He doesn’t excel in any part of boxing. What he does have is a group of weaknesses that I know how to exploit,” explained Eubank Jr.
Eubank Jr definitely has supporters but there are also boxing fans who would love to see the confident super middleweight lose his title and get eliminated from the tournament. He understands the controversy and promises to gain the respect of every ‘hater’ and ‘keyboard warrior’.
“It’s boxing. It’s a controversial sport. I don’t believe you should be in a controversial sport if you are not a controversial character. They either love me or hate me. But after a fight like this, all the doubters, all the haters, all the keyboard warriors, they can’t argue. This is the type of fight where all those guys have to turn into fans. And if not fans they have to start respecting what I am,” stated Eubank Jr.
The World Boxing Super Series semi-final fight will happen on February 17th at the Manchester Arena in Manchester. Alongside the final spot for the Ali Trophy fight, both champions will defend their WBA and IBO titles as well.
