‘The Hawk’ Julian Jackson is commonly remembered as one of the most concussive knockout punchers to ever grace the ring and in this piece, we will look at just how he earned his name as one of the most savage punchers of modern times, pound for pound.
First up on the list is Ismael Negron at number 5. This was the second defence of Jackson’s middleweight world title reign and he conclusively dealt with the Puerto Rican inside of 1 round.
A short left hook detonated on Negron’s chin with the echo of the first bell still in many spectators memories. Upon receiving the blow, the Puerto Rican crumbled away towards the canvas unable to control his legs.
4. Julian Jackson TKO 4 Wayne Powell – 1990
This was just a mind-boggling knockout, for a man to generate this much power from such an awkward angle was something special.
Like with what is usually the case when ‘The Hawk’ lands the right hand. It usually ends with the opponent lying flat out unconscious on the canvas.
There was no exception to that fact here as a dynamite right hand left Powell out and in need of the emergency services.
3. Julian Jackson TKO 3 Buster Drayton – 1988

Arguably the most symbolic knockout of Jackson’s career. This was ‘The Hawk’s first fight as a reigning world champion, making the first defence of his WBA jr-middleweight world title with one of the most emphatic knockouts of the 1980’s.
In grim reaper-esque fashion, Julian Jackson dispatched Buster Drayton with his signature left hook.
Jackson knowing the power he had at his disposal, waved goodnight to his opponent as his lifeless body collapsed towards the deck.
2. Julian Jackson TKO 2 Terry Norris – 1989
Arguably the standout victory on Jackson’s resume was ‘Terrible’ Terry Norris. The 2-time Jr-middleweight world champion came into this fight in a buoyant mood having reeled off seven consecutive victories
This was Jackson’s third title defence of his first world title, the WBA jr-middleweight world championship.
Jackson absolutely obliterated Norris. A short right hand on the button left Norris out on his feet but Jackson made sure there was no doubt he was not getting up by unloading an uppercut on a damaged Norris.
1. Julian Jackson KO 4 Herrol Graham – 1990

Undoubtedly one of the greatest knockouts of all time. Herrol ‘Bomber’ Graham was having it all his own way for the first four rounds utilising his superior skill set to pile up the early goings of the bout.
Jackson had looked out of his depth. But all ‘The Hawk’ was really doing was looking for the chance to lead the lamb to the slaughter. That opportunity finally arose in the fourth stanza of their title fight.
Graham had grown increasingly confident and began to press his advantages which was a wrong move.
Jackson caught Graham with a freight train right hand which nearly took the poor Nottingham native’s head clean off.
