Rising 140lbs star Brandun Lee seamlessly stepped up in class to blitz Samuel Teah in three rounds at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, on Wednesday night.
With the win, Californian Lee (22-0, 20 KOs) extended his knockout streak to 13 on the spin. Teah (17-4-1, 7 KOs) had never been stopped previously and was expected to offer a test and some rounds, but was brushed aside in just 7 minutes and 43 seconds.
Lee dropped Teah early in the third with a rapid, three-punch combination before knocking his Liberian-born foe out with a huge right hand in a highlight reel finish.
“Honestly, I don’t think I learned a whole lot tonight,” confessed Lee, still only 21. “I knew he couldn’t outbox me. I knew he couldn’t outpunch me. I knew the knockout was going to come and that one was definitely one of my top one or two favourites so far in my career.
“It was a step up in competition and even the betting odds were way closer than usual. Most of the time, I’m a -5,000 favourite or something like that and this time it was only -1,000. I was getting a lot of DMs on Instagram and Twitter of people telling me that Sam is going to be tough. Sam is going to beat you. But hopefully, the doctors check him out and everything is all good.”
