Carl Froch chose not to become a trainer after retiring from the sport a decade ago, but he has now revealed who he would love to work with out of the crop of current fighters.
Froch called time on his professional career when he stopped Geroge Groves with a crushing right hand at Wembley Stadium back in 2014, and then decided to go into punditry, which he still does on a casual basis with the likes of DAZN and TalkSport.
He also has a successful YouTube channel named Froch on Fighting, where he been answering questions from fans regarding a number of boxing topics.
One of those was if there were any boxers that ‘The Cobra’ would love to train, and while he still has no plans to become a coach, he named several fighters that he would love to experience working with.
“Someone like Gervonta Davis who’s a real fighting machine, and a bit of an animal. I’d love to work alongside someone like Dmitry Bivol, or even Terence Crawford too, just to be part of that action and be involved in it.
“I’d love to experience being a trainer in an elite-level fighter’s world title fight. Rob McCracken [Froch’s trainer] lived a career of becoming a world champion though me.
“With Rob taking me from being a nothing pro to British champion, Commonwealth champion, a world title challenger against [Jean] Pascal, and then on that journey, he was living every fight, every punch.
“The journey that he had with me, if I could do that with someone else – that would be awesome.”
Froch is amongst a minority of fighters who have stuck with one trainer throughout their whole career, having been coached by McCracken as an amateur, and then during 12 years a professional.
