After demolishing Kell Brook inside four rounds, WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford firmly set his sights on Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao.
Crawford was originally lined up to meet WBA Super champion Pacquiao before the Covid-19 Pandemic intervened, scotching an intriguing confrontation in Qatar. Instead, the pound-for-pound star faced Brook who he broke in the fourth with a ruthless finish.
Now the Omaha talent hopes that deal is revived in the early part of 2021.
“I already said who I want. I want Pacquiao. I want to revisit that fight,” said Crawford after his latest triumph. “That was a fight that should’ve happened right now.
“But being that the pandemic happened, and they weren’t going to allow fans in the Middle East, they had to put a hold to that.
“Everything was 95 percent done. We had the venue. The money was almost there. It wasn’t quite there. That was the only thing we were waiting on.”
Last week, Crawford’s promoter Bob Arum said that WBC and IBF champion Errol Spence was another realistic option as the WBO title-holder seeks the career-defining mega-fights he craves.
