The anticipated domestic rematch between David Haye and Tony Bellew is getting closer and both fighters are finalising their training camps.
Haye has been actively posting material from his training session on social media and he promises to ‘show the world something special’ on May 5 in London.
‘The Hayemaker’ promises to be a hundred per cent against Bellew in the rematch and will retire from boxing as a fighter if he doesn’t win convincingly.
Today at a media lunch, Bellew spoke to the press and gave an update on his camp and fitness.
“It’s been a long hard camp. I’m 12 weeks into a 14-week camp. I wouldn’t say I’m starting to tone it down but I was ahead of schedule last week. So I’ve had to bring it down ever so slightly. It’s been a tough camp, a hard camp, but I’m in fantastic shape,” said ‘The Bomber.’
The Liverpudlian claims that he’s still improving as an athlete and is physically better than last time against the Londoner.
“I go beyond the call of duty. It’s been hard at times. I’ve been away from home and back and forth. Training levels are being taken up. All my numbers have gone up. I’m 35 so it doesn’t get any easier it gets tougher. But the fact that my numbers are going up still shows that improving. I’m still getting physically better with each and every camp.”
