Just over one week out from Devin Haney’s all-American showdown with Ryan Garcia the undercard has been announced, but some fans say they are underwhelmed and backed up initial thoughts that the event is not pay-per-view worthy.
DAZN recently confirmed that Haney vs. Garcia would not be included with a regular subscription for fans in the UK, providing hope that the remainder of the bill would justify the £19.99 price point, despite frustrations of the additional cost to potential viewers.
However, the undercard has had mixed responses from both the UK and those across the pond, who will be forced to cough up $79.99 if they wish to tune in to a card that was met with vast criticism, with some not holding back in their description of the event.
In the Haney vs. Garcia co-main event, WBO super-lightweight mandatory challenger Arnold Barboza Jr (29-0) will face Belfast’s Sean McComb (18-1) who is ranked eighth, with a potential title challenge against Teofimo Lopez on the line.
Meanwhile, the hard-hitting Uzbekistan super-middleweight contender Bektemir Melikuziev (13-1) is tasked with undefeated, but relatively untested, Frenchman Pierre Dibombe (22-0-1).
California’s John ‘Scrappy’ Ramirez (13-0) also appears on the bill, following on from an impressive knockout win over Ronal Batista back in October.
He faces another tough test in the form of former WBA flyweight title challenger, David Jimenez (15-1), who moves up to super-flyweight in a clash for the WBA interim super-flyweight title and a possible match-up with WBA 115lb champion Kazuto Ioka.
Finally, Charles Conwell (18-0) will make his debut for Golden Boy Promotions as he returns to action for the first time in 17 months.
Still, Conwell holds the position as number one contender with the WBC and looks to shake off any ring rust against Nathaniel Gallimore (22-7-1), who was knocked out by Serhii Bohachuk on his most recent outing in January 2023.
