Gervonta Davis has said that the ‘love is gone’ between himself and mentor Floyd Mayweather, and accused the CEO of his promotional company of wanting him to lose his last fight against Roland Romero.
In the ongoing saga of ‘Tank’s promotional drama, the Baltimore champion responded to a fan’s tweet about how Floyd Mayweather, the founder of the company that has represented Davis, hadn’t spoken on the fighter’s exciting future plans.
[Because] the love was gone when I knocked Rollie out. Crazy thing [is] I was [at] my mom’s house the other night [and] she told me how Leonard [Ellerbe] was telling people how Rollie was gonna knock me out and my uncles that started me in boxing overheard him. Go look at the fight and watch my mom.”

Davis knocked ‘Rolly’ Romero out in the sixth round of their fight in May at the Barclays Center, Brooklyn.
It’s rare that Gervonta Davis keeps a tweet live without deleting it from his timeline – albeit once some people have had the chance to see it and screenshot it. This one however, as of the time of writing, remains.
The business side for ‘Tank’ remains unclear, but it’s certainly not happy families. What makes it more confusing is that Ellerbe, the man he’s accusing, has tweeted in support of him recently.
The 27-0 knockout artist has just signed to face Ryan Garcia in what is one of the biggest bouts the sport can offer, and Ellerbe was keen to offer his praise for the deal being made.
Davis will face Hector Luis Garcia, an undefeated super featherweight, on January 7 in Washington DC before he takes his campaign to Vegas to compete with ‘KingRy.’ It’s understood that the bout – rumoured for April 15 – will be produced by SHOWTIME but also available on DAZN.
