Gennady Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez is not a fan of Conor McGregor nor is he entertained by the idea of Floyd Mayweather Jr fighting the Irishman. The experienced trainer said what a lot of the boxing purists are thinking.
“It’s a farce. It’s an amateur against one of the greatest fighters of our era,” said the trainer in an interview with fighthype.com.
Sanchez clearly doesn’t give McGergor even the slightest shot of achieving anything in the ring against Mayweather. He sees ‘The Notorious’ as the inferior of the two and bashes the UFC champion.
“The guy has never had a professional fight. If Maidana [Carlos], Castillo [Jose Luis], Berto [Andre], all these names couldn’t touch him, how’s this mutt gonna touch him?” commented Sanchez.
Obviously, Sanchez and his team are not happy about “MayMac” happening since they stole the thunder away from Canelo-Golovkin that’s happening on September 16th. When asked if Mayweather-McGregor is a disgrace the trainer spared no words.
“Absolutely. It hurts boxing and people are going to see that it shouldn’t have been made. But Mayweather does what he wants to do.”
