Ryan Garcia continues to taunt and goad his upcoming opponent and has now sent a new threat to Devin Haney ahead of their meeting on April 20.
Garcia has had plenty to say in the build-up to what will be his second major step up in boxing. He fell short at his first big step up versus Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis last April when he was knocked out with a body shot, and has now promised much more in this fight.
He has also complained about plenty from the location of the fight at the Barclays Centre in New York rather than in Las Vegas to the ticket prices.
He has criticised Haney’s boxing goals, has leaked sparring footage of Haney and has had his mental state called into question due to his erratic behaviour on stage during some of the press to build up the fight.
At 25 years old, Garcia is hoping to showcase his skills in the super-lightweight division against his former amateur rival Haney. The pair fought six times in the amateur ranks with the results reading three victories each.
Now in a video shared by DAZN, Garcia promises to put Haney down.
“Man I watched Devin Haney’s media workout, that sh*it was weak. Y’all were hyping that up bro, when he was hitting that body thing I could teach a 12-year-old kid to hit harder than that. I’m not even capping.
“You guys are hyping some s***t up. It’s all good. Hype his ass up. I’m gunna put that m********r down, watch. I’m definitely gunna put him down.”
The fight will be shown around the world live on DAZN pay-per-view.
