Unified heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk continues to pursue an undisputed clash with Tyson Fury, but some in the sport believe he has little chance after his latest outing.
Usyk and Fury were expected to face one another this year to crown the first ever recognised four-belt heavyweight champion, but failed negotiations saw the pair go their separate ways.
The Ukrainian obliged in taking on his first mandatory challenge in Daniel Dubois, whom he knocked out in the ninth last month after suffering a controversial low blow.
Meanwhile, ‘The Gypsy King’ is preparing to face UFC sensation, Francis Ngannou, in a crossover bout that is being promoted as ‘The Battle of the Baddest’.
On the talkBOXING show, fighter turned pundit Spencer Oliver encouraged his fellow Brit to face Usyk, with a firm belief that the former undisputed cruiserweight champion would prove to be no match for ‘The Gypsy King.’
“He’ll ragdoll him! That’s the point. For me, after watching Usyk against Daniel Dubois, it made me recognise, even more so, how far apart he is from Tyson Fury.
Fury would match him with boxing IQ, because Fury’s is very good. He would bully him and he would ragdoll him, I think that Fury is leagues above Oleksandr Usyk, after watching him against Daniel Dubois.”
Before talks between the undefeated duo can re-open, Fury must first defeat Francis Ngannou on October 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and even then, Usyk may not be the target for his next outing.
